WORKS FROM THE MALLESONS STEPHEN JACQUES COLLECTION

TO GO UNDER THE HAMMER THIS WEEKEND IN SYDNEY

The sale will take place at Bonhams & Goodman's Waterloo rooms at 224 Young Street.  The auction of nearly 170 lots includes many collectable works by well known Australian artists.

The prominent law firm has decided to rationalise its collection in order to concentrate on a more focussed collections approach.  "Works in this auction were acquired predominantly in the 1980s and they offer an in-depth representation of young and emerging as well as the most established Australian artists of this decade," says Anne Phillips, the senior specialist who has been entrusted with cataloguing the collection.  "The diversity of the collection means that there is something that is likely to appeal to all tastes and budgets", adds Phillips.

Highlights in the auction include paintings by Leonard French, Matthew Johnson, Elwyn Lynn, Sid Long, Paul Partos, John Plapp, Jan Senbergs, Margaret Woodward and Reinis Zusters.

The collection also includes some lovely works on paper by Charles Blackman, Arthur Boyd, Andrew Browne, John Coburn, John Olsen, Andrew Sibley, Tim Storrier, Long Tom Tjapanangka, Ken Whisson, Brett Whiteley and Fred Williams.
